OBJECTIVES 

  • To celebrate sports day with specially abled children.

  • To celebrate and showcase the talents, skills, and abilities of children  with disabilities

  •  promoting inclusivity and breaking down barriers that might exist in society against individuals with disabilities.

Some days are simply meant to play and one such enthusiastic event, the Birth Anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the Hockey conjurer of India, was celebrated at the IIS University Lawns on 29 August 2022 as the ‘National Sports Day’. The Sports Board, NSS and Equal Opportunity Cell of the University joined in for organizing the Para Sports Meet to cheer the specially-abled children. A total of 129 students from six special schools of Jaipur, Disha, Umang, Milestone, Ahan foundation, Seth Anandi Poddar School and Shri Nirmal Vivek School participated in the activity. She addressed differently abled children present and said that they are no way less than a normal child and the level of energy and enthusiasm that they got cannot be compared with any other child. The enthusiastic participants from various special schools then showcased their sparkling skills in the series of Paralympic Games -Exhibition  Hockey match, Ball Throw, color match race, needle and thread, book balancing, pair ball dance, straw balloon race, 2*50m relay race, coloring competition and patriotic solo song competition.  All 129 participants were given medals for participation by Prof. Sharad Rathore, Program Officer, NSS, Prof. K S. Sharma, Advisor, IIS (Deemed to be University), and Prof. Ila Joshi, Professor, Department of Home Science. The winners of the Patriotic solo song competition and coloring competition were given trophies. Delighted in the luxury of freedom and time to play, the exhausted but rejuvenated participants were served refreshments


 

Outcome:Encouraging physical activity and participation in sports among individuals with disabilities.
